the end of a Christmas party

Looking in the mirror....I looked really good tonight. My hair was done up with wisps of curls brushing the back of my neck...elegent but with a soft look. Great makeup that gave me a mysterious eyes look..but not to much make up. And now..its the end of the night. facing the mirror to wash it all off, take it all down. I went to a family Christmas's party. It was a lot of fun and very festive. My kids got to play with all their cousins. I smiled and laughed..but not in the inside. I sat and watched so many happy family's and couples. And I am happy for them, but theres nothing like christmas that helps remind you that you are alone. So hear I am washing everything away, brushing everything out, and laying down to a cold empty bed.

Merry Christmas Everyone! I'm Single.

Where do you go to meet decent singles?

Where do you go to meet other singles?

The bar. a club. Church. your childrens school reciteal. the grocery store, work, the internet? I think the longer you are single the longer this list gets and the more desperat it starts to look. As of now this is what my lists looks like...how about yours?

One of my most recent efforts to go out and meet people was a week ago at a Christmas ball the small town that I live in was holding. I have veered away from bar's and clubs..I think we all start out there. But now that I have been single for two years, I know that I want to find a good person that is ready for a serious relationship...and the bar/club isn't really the place to find those people..in my experience.

So this Christmas ball, which consisted of a show dinner and a dance at the end. Me and one of my single girlfriends show up at the time of the dance. As we go into the building with high hopes, are smile's quickly fade on entering the gymnasium. Scanning the crowd that consits of old couples....I saw two prospects. TWO! When I say prospects I mean male and single...nothing else accountable like looks, age, job. And one of those prospects was my friends ex..so he was kicked off the list. With all the other single females which consisted of about six women..that's a 1/3 ratio..not good. I waited my turn to dance with my only option. This option might I add actually was pretty decent. But he did his rounds danced with us all and quietly snuck out the back door. I was the only one who saw him sneak out and he was doing a very fast pace walk I must say. With a big sigh* I headed home, with my black ball gown with a poofy red under skirt enveloping me behind the stirring wheel. ( mental note ball gowns were not meant to be shoved in a small space between seat and steering wheel)

So what did I learn from this? That being single is hard..being single in a small town is hopeless.
Ad I think I need to add another place to my list, it's time for it grow longer.. and longer

Single and...loving it?

SINGLE.

its such a ominous word. It seems to be a sighn over are heads...this person is single! Some sighns small..and some with flashing neons. But no matter how we all act. Wether its out on the town partying and saying how much we love to be single..or at home with are nose in a book, sighing about a non exisent character that has a life and we don't. We all underneath don't really want to be single. Man was not meant to be alone.

So the purpos of this blog? For me to express my views on being single, good or bad, sad or ugly. And to hear others...their views..bad dates (love those), and maybe a little bit of therapy for us all, or maybe just me...
